Newcomer Emilie "Mimie" Nana comes up with this nicely pumping mixture of Gospel and House, together with a great remix package! Glenn Underground ́s version will convince you of its Chicago style jazzy deepness and St Plomb ́s mental groove make this boat really flowing, don ́t miss it!!
Emilie "Mimie" Nana was born in 1984 in Lyon – France. Since her youngest age she has soaked up the codes of “Negro” music, Raggae & Funk, following the passion of her father who was collecting 7"s and 12"s. Always seeking for new sounds, it’s in her mother's tapes that she first discovered "Paradise garage". A shock ... and then the light! In a deep rooted approach, the meeting of Gospel – Vicious Pop & House join in a ceremony of unlikely sounds & notes. Under a provocatively denouncing name, “I Missed The Boat” the first solo release of the artist on Compost Records will transform & hypnotize your minds.
St Plomb, better known to family and friends as Papa Sorcier ("Daddy Wizard"), emerges from the shady side of the swiss mountains in 2009 with a whole new round of productions on contentismissing, Brut! Records and Third Ear (UK) to begin with. After three years of misleading silence, he obviously has settled his natural inclination for psychedelic funk in house music. Raw, deep and somewhat jazz oriented, as shows in Emilie Nana's gospel reinterpretation. And speaking of boats, in these historic times, the Shady Side name actually refers to the first fluvial steamer owned by Marcus Garvey's Black Star Line company.
Glenn Underground comes from a family of musicians dating all the way back into the early 1970's, from his stepfather to his cousin, to his uncle's so his musical knowledge exceeds him. Since 1984 G.U. has been playing & supporting house music in Chicago & has been producing his own brand of House (& Dance music) since about 86-87 until now and so on. Glenn has presented the world some of the deepest house grooves and rocked countless infamous clubs on all continents both as DJ and as host.
